At this time people were wanting to learn but did not want to learn at a monasteries. So the people who was in loom of a good education found a way to build europe's first universities. Some of the very early universities were built by the church. The church did this because their whole goal was to teach people about religion.
Some of the other universities were founded by students who looked for teachers to teach the about the world. Most of the teachers that taught at the universities were members of the clergy. The school taught other things besides religion they also taught about law, medicine, astronomy, and other subjects. All of the classes taught at the universities we done in Latin. Not very many people spoke latin but they still taught like that because it was the language of scholars and also the church.
When people started to learn new things about the world they began to have different perspectives of the world. They figured that things they had believed for all of their lives were preserved by other religions and countries in a different way. They discovered that some things would have to be taken by fate and others could be proven for a reason. The new learning that had happened in the middle ages helped a lot of people a lot of things they had never thought before.
